Many travel memories are made by being somewhere for a special event. Some such events only happen once a year like the French Open tennis finals at Roland Garros. Others occur regularly through a summer season. Just remember to book a ticket in advance in case it’s busy. So how about visiting the Minack Theatre in Cornwall, a spell bounding amphitheatre cut into the rock cliffs looking out to sea.

Other events only take place once every four years, such as the Winter Olympics. We went to Sochi in Russia in 2014 to see what that was like.

Finally, if we’re trying to cover off as many time periods as possible you can also try to attend the ‘weekly’ Prime Minister’s Questions at the Houses of Parliament. Although for this one you’ll need to contact your MP in advance and hope you receive an invite back.
